Esomeprazole is a commonly used anti-acid medicine and is also known as Nexium. Esomeprazole treats heartburn and stomach cramps, but it also treats other types of stomach issues, such as ulcers, peptic ulcers, and perforated ulcers. It also prevents the stomach from acid production and relieves acid reflux symptoms.

Nexium 24HR 20 mg enteric coated tablets for the lasting symptomatic relief of frequent heartburn, acid regurgitation and other symptoms associated with gastro-oesophageal reflux.
Always take this medicine exactly as described in the Consumer Medicine Information leaflet or as your doctor or pharmacist have told you. Check with your doctor or pharmacist if you are not sure. The recommended dose is one tablet a day. - Do not take more than this recommended dose of one tablet (20 mg) a day, even if you don't feel an improvement immediately. - You may need to take Nexium 24HR for a few days before experiencing the full effect. - Nexium 24HR should be taken for at least 7 days and up to 14 days. - Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you do not feel better while taking Nexium 24HR. If symptoms persist or recur within 2 weeks of completing the course, consult your doctor. Further examination may be required.
Always read the label, use only as directed. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you notice any of the following and they worry you: nausea or vomiting, constipation, diarrhoea, headache, wind, stomach pain, skin rash, itchy skin, dizziness or dry mouth. These side effects are usually mild. Tell your pharmacist or doctor if you are taking any other medicines, including any that you buy without a prescription from your pharmacy, supermarket or health food shop. Some medicines may interfere with Nexium 24HR. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are pregnant unless your doctor says so. Ask your doctor about the risks and benefits involved. It is not known if it is safe for you to take Nexium 24HR while you are pregnant. It may affect your baby. Do not take Nexium 24HR if you are breastfeeding. Ask your doctor for more information. In a world of financial uncertainty, AstraZeneca's (AZN) pharmaceuticals division is facing an economic blow in the first few years of its life-sciences division. Although it had to settle all the patents it had obtained for its drugs, it now faces an increasingly complex threat from a new generation of blockbuster drugs that are making its way through the supply chain. AZN's new drug is called Nexium.
Nexium is a generic version of AstraZeneca's Prilosec (Esomeprazole) which is a brand name for the brand-name drug Nexium. It is an immediate-relief drug designed for the treatment of acute gastritis. Nexium has a long history of making its way through the supply chain and has already proved to be a game-changer in the fast-growing AstraZeneca business. The company is also working on a new generic version of Prilosec and has made a strategic move to make its new drug available as a generic equivalent. Nexium, however, is still in the early stages of clinical trials, which are expected to take a couple of months.
AZN has also been selling Nexium, which is a generic version of Prilosec. However, the company has not yet launched a generic version of Prilosec, and AZN has already entered into agreements to market the generic version, which is a new drug that is not yet available in the UK. AZN's generic Nexium will be launched by GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) later this year. The company has already launched its own generic version of Prilosec, which it had acquired from GSK. Prilosec has been selling itself as a generic version of AstraZeneca's Prilosec. AZN is also planning a marketing campaign for Nexium. AZN is also trying to launch a similar version of Prilosec, which is sold as a generic drug. Both Prilosec and Nexium are in the same stages of clinical trials and are expected to be available in the UK this year.
In December, the company announced that it had received a European Union approval for its Nexium and Prilosec products. However, the company has yet to receive any further supply of the products. The company is also yet to finalize any further agreement with GSK, which is expected to launch its own generic version of Nexium in the first few months of this year. Both companies are also working on marketing and sales of their own generic drugs. AZN is planning a marketing campaign for its own generic Prilosec and is also working on an advertising campaign to sell its own generic Nexium.
AZN's new drug Nexium is available as a generic equivalent of Prilosec.
